The place is dry and with very little rainfall, and has abundant sunlight all year round. It also has the four distinctive seasons and high temperature differences between the day and night. The Mogao Grottoes is over 1,600 meters long from north to south and is five floors high, with the highest point at about 50 meters above ground. Currently, it has 492 caves, over 45,000 square meters of frescos, 2,415 colored statues and over 4,000 statues of Apsaras (gods). The Mogao Caves is large in scale and has extremely abundant content and a very long history. The caves, together with the Yungang Caves in Shanxi Province and the Longmen Caves in Henan Province are called the "three great treasure houses of grotto art" in China. Moreover, the quality and location of these figures indicate a key development in the integration of filial piety with Buddhist devotion at the Mogao site. Medieval Chinese authors frequently described filial piety as the antithesis of Buddhist goals of renouncing family ties. Such goals of renunciation were characterized at the time as Indian and foreign in contrast to the native Chinese concept of filial piety. The incorporation of these secular figures into Buddhist family caves, however, provides compelling evidence that the lines between filial piety and Buddhist devotion were not always as sharply drawn as medieval Chinese textual rhetoric might imply.

Many of the statues are similar, though they show the Buddah with different hand gestures (mudra). Each mudra represents things such as teaching, protecting, and meditating. They also represent one of six different reincarnations of Buddha as a human being. The large pagoda, called Qianxun Pagoda (千寻塔), was first built into a 16-storey one with a height of 69.13 m; the smaller northern pagoda and the southern one were built both in octagonal with 10 storeys and a height of 42.19 m. It is said that the three pagodas was constructed for the reasons of advocating Buddhism as well as dominating riddled floods in the area (according to local Buddhism culture, Buddhist pagoda can dominate beasts who control natural things such as flood). After the completion of the three imposing pagodas, a grand Chongsheng Temple was constructed later; and for several expansions in later periods, the temple reached its heyday in Song Dynasty (970-1279). Its 4 kilometer-long axis is the longest of any temple axis in China; the Hall of the Great Hero of the temple, at 51. 7 meters wide and 26 meters high, is the largest Buddhist hall of its kind in China. It has the largest number of gilded Buddha images, based on "Zhang Shengwen Scroll Painting". The temple also has 500 statues from Kunming's Bamboo Temple. Its 599 Buddha images are all gilded bronze. The woodcarving on the walls of its Hall of the Great Hero, the "Zhang Shengwen Scroll Painting", is 117 meters long and 18 meters high, the largest one of its kind in the world. These calligraphic texts were inscribed by a military man like Zhuge Liang himself, a certain General Yue Fei who served during the Southern Song (CE 1127-1279) Dynasty and who spent a night at Wuhou Temple enroute to do battle against the invasionary Jin (CE 1127-1279) Dynasty forces that had overtaken northern China. But the declarations themselves had been written centuries earlier by General Zhuge Liang as expressions of loyalty to the then serving emperor of Shu, Liu Shan, the son of Liu Bei, the man who had first installed General Zhuge Liang as the defender of Shu, so when General Yue Fei cites General Zhuge Liang prior to the impending battle with the invasionary Jin, it is to remind his own troops of the declaration of patriotism and self-sacrifice that General Zhuge Liang made to his emperor in those earlier times (General Yue Fei was himself to become the epitome of the loyal and patriotic Chinese servant).*

Of the Pre-Expedition Declaration, a very touching old saying goes like this: "He who doesn't shed tears after reading the Pre-Expedition Declaration is not a true patriot." In December 1908, due to both of the Emperor Guangxu and Empress Dowager Cixi got serious sick, Puyi was Chosen by Empress Dowager Cixi on her deathbed as the emperor of Qing Dynasty when he was only 2 years and 10 months old. Titled the Xuantong Emperor.

Aged 19 in 1924, with China in turmoil, he escaped to the international settlement at Tientsin to take shelter in the welcoming arms of the Japanese. Japanese found a use for him and, when they took control of Manchuria in 1931, they proclaimed Pu Yi as Emperor of Manchukuo.

On March 8, 1932, Puyi moved his government to Changchun city, and the place in the picture is where he lived as a Japanese puppet for next 13 years - Manchurian Imperial Palace. >> Chinatourguide.com
Hong Kong is justifiably well-known for its restaurants and its cuisine, but it is actually the diversity of food that is mind-boggling. Below are 5 specialities in Hong Kong not to miss, let's check it out:

1 Stuffed roasted suckling pig at Kimberley Chinese Restaurant

Open Mon-Sat 11am-3pm, 6pm-11pm, Sun 10am-4pm, 6pm-11pm)

Kimberley Chinese Restaurant, which specialises in upscale Cantonese cuisine such as dim sum, abalone delicacies and the like. Even so, its main attraction is the roasted suckling pig, a behemoth of a dish. It is completely different from the traditional dish in that it is filled with delicious sticky glutinous rice and roasted whole over an open flame. So the skin arrives roasted to crispy perfection and also the inside is stuffed with fragrant and flavourful mushy rice. Around £103 for a suckling pig that serves 8 or 10.

2 Beef brisket from Sister Wah
(13A Electric Road, Tin Hau, +852 2807 0181. Open 11am-11pm.)

Even though Central's Kau Kee restaurant is synonymous with beef brisket in Hong Kong, the city's foodies know that Sister Wah is definitely the place to go for a refreshing bowl of beef brisket noodles. The stock's key ingredient is large chunks of daikon (very similar to a large radish), making it lighter and sweeter than in many other beef brisket places. Around £1.60 a bowl.

3 Snake soup from Ser Wong Fun
(30 Cochrane St, Central, +852 2543 1032. Open 11am-11.30pm.)

Snake soup is regarded as a delicacy in the city, as traditionalists believe it wards off colds as well as other maladies. One of the best places to try it is Ser Wong Fun, which features a 115-year history of serving snake soups. The snake meat is shredded into thin white strips and served in a broth of mushrooms, seafood and lemon leaves. The place is a little shabby and usually very packed but the experience is quintessentially Hong Kong. Around £10 a bowl.

4 Egg tart from the Hoover Cake Shop
(136 Nga Tsin Wai Road, Kowloon City, +852 2382 0383. Open 7am-8.30pm)

This beloved Hong Kong staple is most commonly found with two different styles of crust: a crumbly shortcrust, or flaky puff pastry. However, the Hoover Cake Shop continues to draw crowds because it makes its tarts with duck eggs, intensifying the custard's silky flavour and its rich yellow hue. The shop is modest and cosy, and its only ingredient for a winning atmosphere is the deliciously buttery scent of baked goods wafting out. Egg tarts around 40p each.

5 Egg waffles from Lee Keung Kee
(Original branch at 492 King's Road, North Point, +852 2590 9726. Open 10am-11pm)

This egg waffle hotspot facing the bustling King's Road in North Point isn't actually difficult to miss as it's completely covered in press clippings of local celebrities that the shop has accumulated over the years. The name of this joint actually means "super hot gang" in Cantonese, but over the years it has grow to be much more commonly known as North Point Egg Waffles, or even "that place in North Point". The waffles here are a little thicker in texture but retain the superb fluffy consistency that makes egg waffles so beloved in this city. There are now no less than eight branches of Lee Keung Kee egg waffles in Hong Kong, but the original is still the one generating all the buzz. Waffles £1.20. >>Hong Kong Tour GuideHRCTeamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02732109161698883194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3820586402889272154.post-12762263949113654312013-05-20T23:20:00.000-07:002013-05-20T23:20:52.230-07:0011th Mt. Wear proper clothing and comfortable walking shoes: you'll be making a long walk up the side of the mountain. Think about rain gear: Guilin as well as the surrounding region is really a wet region and rain can come throughout any time of the year.
The average temperature for the year is 19.3 celcius with a July average temperature of 28.3 degrees. The average rainfall for the year is 192.6 cm per month.

There are various views in diverse season. Spring in Guilin is warm with some rain. It is a sea of flowers. On rainy days, the rivers, pinnacles and the city itself would be shrouded in mist, which is particularly charming. Summer in Guilin is hot and humid, however the beauty to be found outdoors is very sufficient compensation. Guilin is a place surrounded by limpid rivers and lakes. You will find a lot of exiting activity to do in Guilin throughout the entire summer and most of them are connected with water. Autumn in Guilin is beautiful. The Guilin Climate in autumn is very present for traveling. Winter is fairly a low season for tourism in Guilin. However it is still very lovely during the season. More than that, it will cost you less in winter than other seasons to visit Guilin in winter.
Recommended Spots to Watch The Show:
The Tsim Sha Tsui side.
All along the Avenue of the Stars from the Star Ferry Terminal to the
New World Centre in the East, anywhere where the Convention Center is
within view would be preferable as it is this year's focal point of the
extravaganza.

Another popular vantage point for fireworks is the
Hung Hom Bypass which is closed to traffic between Salisbury Road and
Hung Hom Road

If staying in the Hong Kong Island side, consider
the area around the Ferry Piers and in Wanchai around the Convention
Centre and Bauhinia Square, although this might be too close. Hong Kong Tours
