The Mogao Caves is also called the Thousand-Buddha Caves

The Mogao Caves is also called the Thousand-Buddha Caves, and the caves are on the rock face of the Soughing Dunes, 25 kilometers to the southeast of the Donghuang City in Gansu Province in western China. The place is dry and with very little rainfall, and has abundant sunlight all year round. It also has the four distinctive seasons and high temperature differences between the day and night. The Mogao Grottoes is over 1,600 meters long from north to south and is five floors high, with the highest point at about 50 meters above ground. Currently, it has 492 caves, over 45,000 square meters of frescos, 2,415 colored statues and over 4,000 statues of Apsaras (gods). The Mogao Caves is large in scale and has extremely abundant content and a very long history. The caves, together with the Yungang Caves in Shanxi Province and the Longmen Caves in Henan Province are called the "three great treasure houses of grotto art" in China. The fine execution and prominent placement of these figures within Cave 231 distinguish them from other images conventionally designated as secular donor images in Dunhuang art. Moreover, the quality and location of these figures indicate a key development in the integration of filial piety with Buddhist devotion at the Mogao site. Medieval Chinese authors frequently described filial piety as the antithesis of Buddhist goals of renouncing family ties. Such goals of renunciation were characterized at the time as Indian and foreign in contrast to the native Chinese concept of filial piety. The incorporation of these secular figures into Buddhist family caves, however, provides compelling evidence that the lines between filial piety and Buddhist devotion were not always as sharply drawn as medieval Chinese textual rhetoric might imply.

Many of the statues are similar, though they show the Buddah with different hand gestures (mudra). Each mudra represents things such as teaching, protecting, and meditating. They also represent one of six different reincarnations of Buddha as a human being. Followers also believe that he has also been reincarnated as animals such as a deer, monkey, birds, tigers, and elephants. These incarnations as an animal are called Jutaku tales, and are widely popular in this culture.

The Wuhou Memorial Temple is the most famous and influential of the temples

The Wuhou Memorial Temple in Chengdu's south suburb is the most famous and influential of the temples dedicated to Zhuge Liang, the distinguished statesman and strategist during the Three Kingdom Period (220-80 AD), meanwhile the symbol of wisdom in Chinese people's mind. Welcome to China, HRC is pleasure to provide  China Tour guide, like Sichuan tour, Huangshan tour.

721
Entering the Second Gate to Wuhou Memorial Temple, the visitor will see thirty seven stone tablets, each measuring 63cm (H) by 58cm (W) and, inlaid into the gate's walls on which are engraved two famous calligraphic texts, the "Pre- Expedition Declaration" and the "Post-Expedition Declaration".  These calligraphic texts were inscribed by a military man like Zhuge Liang himself, a certain General Yue Fei who served during the Southern Song (CE 1127-1279) Dynasty and who spent a night at Wuhou Temple enroute to do battle against the invasionary Jin (CE 1127-1279) Dynasty forces that had overtaken northern China. But the declarations themselves had been written centuries earlier by General Zhuge Liang as expressions of loyalty to the then serving emperor of Shu, Liu Shan, the son of Liu Bei, the man who had first installed General Zhuge Liang as the defender of Shu, so when General Yue Fei cites General Zhuge Liang prior to the impending battle with the invasionary Jin, it is to remind his own troops of the declaration of patriotism and self-sacrifice that General Zhuge Liang made to his emperor in those earlier times (General Yue Fei was himself to become the epitome of the loyal and patriotic Chinese servant).*

727
Of the Pre-Expedition Declaration, a very touching old saying goes like this: "He who doesn't shed tears after reading the Pre-Expedition Declaration is not a true patriot." After the expedition, where the battle was lost to the enemy, General Zhuge Liang penned the Post-Expedition Declaration, one sentence of which became immemorial: "One should exert one's utmost to fulfill one's duties until death, and to give one's best until one's heart ceases to beat."

Emerald Gorge is the final and the longest of the Lesser Three Gorges

Emerald Gorge is the final and the longest (12 kilometers) of the Lesser Three Gorges, proceeding in an upstreams fashion. Though the name dicui is generally translated as "emerald", it can also mean "verdant", which is a very apt term to describe Emerald Gorge, the lushest and most open (less boxed in) of the Lesser Three Gorges. Since the slopes of Emerald Gorge are less steep, they have trapped and retained soil, and, being open to more sunlight, have thereby become a hotbed of vegetation, and since vegetation has a tendency to smooth the otherwise sharp contours of mountains, Emerald Gorge has the most graceful appearance of all three of the Lesser Three Gorges.

  706
Here the visitor will see pairs of Mandarin ducks swimming along the river banks, rows and groves of delicate bamboo lining the shores, and slightly farther up the mountain, larger, leafier trees in which cavort the tireless Rhesus monkey. Here too, some of the natural rock formations have names, such as Boat Coffin, Dancing Rain from Heavenly Spring, Flying Clouds Cave, Imitation Plank Paths, Sheep Cliff, Sky-Scraping Red Wall, Stalactitic Buddha on Cliff, Steel Rope Bridge, Two Eagles Playing on Screen, and Water Curtain Cave.
Emerald Gorge (Dicui Xia) pans 12 miles and is the longest and most charming of the three gorges. Madu River, the Mini Three Gorges, plank road and Boat Coffins are popular sites for visitors to appreciate. Welcome to China, Chinatourguide.com is pleasure to provide service for your China tours or indochina tours.
